Weekly competitor digest with n8n + Firecrawl
Our verdict
A high-leverage afternoon project. You stop manually checking competitor pricing and changelogs, and get one email with what changed. Keep the source list small and stable.
- Who it's for
- Founders and indie makers in competitive markets
- Leverage
- Market awareness without manual checking
- Effort
- Medium
- Date added
What it does
An n8n workflow on a weekly schedule calls Firecrawl to scrape a list of competitor URLs, sends the markdown to an LLM node to summarise changes, and emails or Slacks you the digest.
How builders use it
- Schedule trigger → list of URLs → Firecrawl scrape → LLM summary → email.
- Store last week's text to diff against.
- Add a 'nothing changed' short-circuit to keep it quiet.
What to expect
One digest a week replaces ad-hoc tab checking.
Copy this: LLM summary step
You are monitoring competitors for <my product>.
Below are this week's page contents and last week's, per URL.
For each URL list only meaningful changes: pricing, plans, new features, positioning.
Ignore layout and wording tweaks. If nothing changed, say 'No change'.
End with 1-3 things I should consider doing in response.Related discoveries
